Rent Compliance Manager

Location: Ealing – Hybrid working – 1-2 days a week in Ealing

Salary: Circa £55,000

Contract: 12-month secondment, Full time, 35 hours per week

Role Overview

We are looking for a Rents Compliance Manager to join our fantastic Finance division. This is a new role within A2Dominion and will play a key role in ensuring the organisation complies with the regulatory Rent Standard and other related legislation and contractual arrangements. The successful candidate will carry out a full review of business process improvements to deliver the rent and service charge setting improvement plan and evaluate automated solutions.

Responsibilities will also include:

  •  Working with the wider rents and service charge team to carry out regular self-assessments of each rent review group by business area to ensure full compliance with the Rent Standard and individual rent agreements
  • Working in conjunction with the Director of Financial Services and Service Charge Manger, to carry out a full review of business process improvements to deliver the rent and service charge setting improvement plan
  • Working with the Director of Financial Services to review the annual development of the A2Dominion Rent Policy to ensure it follows a clear and transparent approach to rent setting for our customers
  • Ensure policies and procedures on rent setting are accurate and provide clear responsibilities and financial controls
  • Working with the Director of Financial Services, to coordinate work on the risk map outlining the risks associated with rent setting processes and work with the rent and services charges team to mitigate or manage those risks
  • Review Section 20 processes across the business to ensure maximum recovery of income
  • Design and set up cyclical rent setting compliance training for Finance and the business
  • Leverage data analytics to review and identify inconsistencies as part of regular cyclical rent setting performance checks to ensure compliance is monitored
  • Provide constructive contribution to the wider finance team, share ideas and best practice

More about you 

  •  Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math’s and English (Grades A*- C)
  • Fully qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or educated to degree level
  • Comprehensive knowledge and substantial experience of the housing regulatory framework for landlords with a particular focus on knowledge around the Rent Standard as well as up to date knowledge of regulations (Landlord and Tenant Act 1985) and best practice around fixed and variable service charges
  • Ability to implement changes in regulations and demonstrate a proactive approach to regulatory adherence
  • Comfortable analysing and assessing data to draw insights, assess compliance and identity required interventions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
  • Demonstrate a confident, solution orientated approach with an ability to challenge assumptions and maintain objectivity
