About The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Electrical Qualifying Supervisor. This is a succession role, and the successful candidate will be expected to step into the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor position over the next 12–18 months as part of the planned transition.

Reporting to the Head of Repairs, you’ll support the current Electrical Qualifying Supervisor by providing day‑to‑day technical supervision for a small team of electricians, including oversight of subcontractors. You will act as supervisor two days a week (Monday and Friday).  For the remaining three days, you’ll carry out EICRs and domestic repairs in our empty properties, ensuring they are ready for re‑let.

During your supervisory days, you’ll lead and manage the team in delivering electrical repairs and cyclical compliance (EICR) across all domestic and commercial properties in our stock. You’ll ensure all legislative requirements are met, value for money is achieved, and that high‑quality installation, maintenance and repairs are delivered for both our properties and external customers. Your role will be key in maintaining strong electrical compliance and service standards across the portfolio.

You will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to the team, as well as ensuring that Housing Solutions meets our landlord responsibilities.  You will also be responsible for company EICR registration and NICEIC membership.

About you

As our Assistant Electrical Qualifying Supervisor, you’ll have experience of leading a team of electricians, as well as experience of contract management, which includes sourcing and selecting contractors to support the delivery of our services.  You’ll also need experience of conducting and analysing EICR documentation to deem them compliant, as well as experience of conducting electrical related inspections and repairs in both a domestic and commercial setting.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

You’ll hold the following qualifications:

  • 18th Edition (BS 7671)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds Levels 2 and 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
  • Proven experience in electrical installations, testing, inspection and certification
  • Experience supervising or managing electricians and subcontractors

You’ll need to have a good level of administrative skills, be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and be able to work well under pressure. You’ll need to be able to communicate effectively while taking a positive approach to solving daily work challenges.  You’ll be self-motivated, able to manage time effectively and demonstrate high levels of energy and commitment.

You’ll need a flexible approach to work, able to participate in out of hours duty rota, as required.  A full UK driving licence is essential, as a work van will be provided initially.  Once you transition into the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor role, you’ll then be required to use your own roadworthy car, insured for business use.

We are actively working to increase gender diversity in our trade roles and would particularly welcome applications from women, who are currently under‑represented in this area.

The successful applicant will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate which is considered satisfactory to Housing Solutions.
