Beyond Our Hotels: Making a Difference Where it Matters Most

By Rosie Frisby

Hospitality is, at its heart, about people. While creating memorable experiences for guests remains central to what we do, our commitment to people extends far beyond the walls of our hotels.

Across The QHotels Collection, our teams are passionate about making a positive difference in the communities they serve. From fundraising for local charities and supporting national causes, to creating opportunities for young people and providing much-needed respite for unpaid carers, giving back is embedded within our culture.

With 18 unique hotels and central support teams across England and Scotland, we recognise the important role we play within our communities. Whether supporting causes close to colleagues’ hearts or partnering with organisations that create lasting impact, our people consistently demonstrate the values that define who we are.

Supporting Causes That Matter

One of the most significant developments this year has been our partnership with Prostate Cancer UK as the charity’s Official Hotel Partner in Golf. With golf at the heart of many of our hotels, the partnership provides a natural opportunity to engage players, members and guests while raising awareness of the UK’s most common cancer in men.

Through fundraising events, awareness campaigns and charity golf initiatives across the collection, we’re proud to be helping Prostate Cancer UK encourage earlier conversations around men’s health, promote life-saving awareness and generate vital funds to support research and support services.

We’re also proud to support Hospitality Action, the hospitality industry’s charity, which provides practical, financial and emotional support to people working across our sector. Through Hospitality Action’s Spectrum.Life platform, every colleague at The QHotels Collection has access to our Employee Assistance Programme, offering confidential 24/7 support, including counselling, legal and financial guidance, fitness resources, nutritional advice and wellbeing tools. It’s an important part of our commitment to ensuring our people feel supported both inside and outside the workplace.

Alongside these national partnerships, many of our hotels continue to support charities making a real difference within their local communities. At Crewe Hall Hotel & Spa, the team has partnered with The Wishing Well Project, supporting vulnerable families, children and individuals across Cheshire through fundraising and awareness activities.

Across the collection, colleagues have also taken on fundraising challenges for causes close to their hearts. From marathons and half marathons supporting charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC, Breast Cancer Now and The Matt Hampson Foundation, to cycling and golf endurance challenges for local hospices and children’s charities, teams have shown remarkable dedication and generosity.

At Cheltenham Chase Hotel & Spa, colleagues are working towards a £10,000 fundraising target for the James Hopkins Trust, while teams at The Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort have completed endurance golf challenges in support of Severn Hospice.

Creating Opportunities for Future Generations

Community impact is not only measured through fundraising. Across the collection, teams are also investing their time and expertise to support young people and create opportunities for future generations.

At The Park Royal Hotel & Spa, colleagues have worked closely with local schools and colleges, welcoming students into the hotel to develop practical skills, build confidence and gain valuable workplace experience. By sharing knowledge and creating meaningful learning opportunities, teams are helping young people prepare for future careers while strengthening relationships within their local communities.

Supporting Those Who Support Others

Our partnership with Carefree also continues to make a meaningful difference for unpaid carers. Since partnering with the charity, more than 6,000 carers have either enjoyed a break or have one planned across our hotels, giving them valuable time to rest, recharge and focus on their own wellbeing.

Living Our Values Every Day

What connects these initiatives is not simply the amount raised, or the miles completed, but the people behind them.

Across our hotels and support teams, colleagues consistently demonstrate the values that shape our culture. They are passionate about supporting important causes, proud to contribute to their communities and committed to making a positive difference wherever they can.

Whether championing national charity partnerships, supporting local organisations, creating opportunities for young people or helping unpaid carers enjoy a well-deserved break, care and compassion remain at the heart of everything we do.

Making a Lasting Impact

As The QHotels Collection continues to grow and evolve, our commitment to people remains unchanged. Whether supporting guests, colleagues or the communities around us, we believe hospitality has the power to create meaningful connections and lasting positive impact.

While the causes may differ from one hotel to another, the motivation remains the same: supporting people, strengthening communities and making a difference where it matters most. It is a commitment that reflects the passion, pride and togetherness at the heart of The QHotels Collection.
