Becoming a carer is an extremely fulfilling career, but it’s not by any means an easy job. It requires a lot of of patience and understanding, and knowing that you are responsible for ensuring that residents are comfortable and properly cared for.

The fundamental attributes of a good carer are:

  • Professionalism at all times

If you are willing to learn, care about improving other peoples’ lives and have a positive attitude, your skills will come together to give you an excellent grounding in best practice in care.

The role of a carer is to make a difference to the everyday lives of people by enhancing their wellbeing through practical and personal care and emotional support, whilst respecting their dignity and promoting their independence.

You will enhance our people’s lives through a variety of methods, whether it’s cooking or gardening, singing and dancing, or just reading and talking, you will help them keep living the life they love.

As a carer, you will be reliable, friendly and professional and a team player with great communication skills and a flexible approach to work.  Experience isn’t essential as you will be trained and given the opportunity to complete your professional qualifications in Health/Social Care if required.
