Training from scratch

Caesars Entertainment is passionate about delivering exceptional gaming entertainment, inspiring play across the world.

The industry has a wide range of career opportunities on offer. In some, training is provided from scratch – you just need a passion for customer service and to understand what makes a great experience for customers, or “guests” as they’re known.

Aside from the more usual opportunities within the casino, like dealers (croupiers), all its UK properties also feature bars and restaurants. These are great places to work for those with catering experience, and range from kitchen porters up to executive head chefs, who create the menus and cook for guests at the flagship casinos.

There are roles available within the kitchens, restaurants and bars, as well as serving drinks and snacks to guests on the casino floor. There are roles in the company for people with little or no experience – you’ll soon learn and the opportunity is there to apply for promotions to make a career, not just a job.

There are also opportunities in areas including reception, marketing and events, driving, administrative support and numerous roles at the head office on Baker Street, London.

Employees can move upwards to new roles within the same venue, or between venues or go to head office to gain different experience – each venue is geared towards its own specific marketplace and you’ll get to work with all kinds of guests, ranging from casual gamers who enjoy a night out at the casino every now and then, right up to our regular VIP guests.

Discretion is key, however. While you may be serving a meal to a household name or interacting with a VIP guest at a gaming table, you must remember that all guests should be treated with the same level of service and discretion – they are all there to enjoy themselves. Your role is to ensure they do just that. That’s where service standards come in, which you’ll receive regular training in. Part of the company’s mission is to ensure a memorable experience for everyone, every time – guests and team members alike.

Natalie Deegan

Former Miss England finalist Natalie joined Caesars in 2012. She originally applied to join the Playboy Club as a Bunny valet but was offered the opportunity to join as a trainee dealer instead. Progressing from the training school, she worked as a Bunny dealer on the casino tables at the Playboy Club and in 2014 she applied for the role of head Bunny.

This job requires someone who is an ambassador of the Bunny brand and now Natalie spends a lot of her time improving the standards among the other Bunnies at the club, participates on the panel of casting events and helps out with managerial tasks.

Outside of work, Natalie designs swimwear and loves to travel. She also qualified for a world championship of Irish dancing. Her ultimate goal is to run her own business.

Andrew Coutts

Andrew has been working in the industry for some time, after becoming interested in it when his brother was a croupier. He spent some time learning how to deal while living in Israel.

After that he worked in a number of casinos in the Glasgow area as a dealer, inspector and in the CCTV department before coming to Alea Casinos in 2008 as an inspector. Recently, Andrew took part in the TAG apprentice training scheme and is now assistant casino manager.

Andrew feels the company has a very strong customer focus as well as valuing its own staff, offering rewards and benefits to those who show hard work and commitment. He has recently been rewarded for this by being a Caesars Award of Excellence category winner for 2016.

Suzie Garrity

Suzie joined the Alea Casino in Glasgow in 2012 and was looking for an exciting new challenge by coming to work in a casino restaurant, having worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years.

Since joining the company Suzie has worked her way up to her current senior supervisor role, having previously worked as a waitress and supervisor. Suzie loves the people she comes into contact with – both her colleagues and her customers. She feels she has had the opportunity to build her confidence through these interactions and is a great fan of Alea Glasgow’s team days out, when there is an opportunity to socialise with people from other departments. She has twice won Waitress of the Year and was Employee of the Year 2015 at the casino.
