We are currently looking to recruit an Infrastructure Architect who will play a key role in Swinton's new IT Integration and Transformation programme. This is a rapidly changing environment and will suit individuals who thrive off making a difference. Purpose of the role: To ensure that Group infrastructure services are designed and delivered efficiency and in compliance with regulatory and internal policy. The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the production of detailed infrastructure designs, ensuring solutions are robust and congruent with the IT strategy. They will be central to the ongoing development, integration and continuous improvement of infrastructure services, signposting opportunities to leverage emerging technologies/trends in infrastructure operations. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities. To define, implement and maintain the necessary artefacts (including principles, detailed infrastructure designs, standards, roadmaps) to support Group IT Infrastructure service delivery. To work with all necessary ISS colleagues to document 'as is' state and establish target infrastructure architectures based on business requirements, IT strategies, market and commercial value. Provide technical governance/advice to the Solutions Architect/business for initiatives that impact on IT infrastructure, ensuring that changes are transitioned smoothly into service. To manage delivery of internal infrastructure projects/service improvements (both strategic and tactical) ensuring solutions are successfully delivered and fit for purpose. To actively research and identify opportunities to improve IT infrastructure by reducing cost and/or improving functionality in line with business requirements. Provide overarching infrastructure advice/co-ordination to assist with problem resolution. Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on Industry developments & innovations. Encourage, support and coach other team members in their own development. Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback. In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department, the team and the company, as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships. Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality. Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role. Required Experience. Essential. Previous experience as an infrastructure architect, producing detailed configuration designs for several of the following; Wintel Server, VMware, Active Directory, MS Exchange/O365, SCCM and associated hosting technologies, SQL databases, networking, NetApp SAN, desktop presentation, monitoring and alerting. High degree of operational (business and technology) awareness, and can generate positive outcomes through the change they are delivering. Highly motivated / motivational to see success, delivered via their efforts and collaboration with peers. Strong Stakeholder Management skills. Previous experience of working with On Premise or Cloud Solutions. Experience of working with Third Party suppliers. Proactive in understanding emerging technologies in an infrastructure operations environment. Experience of delivering technical project change. Understanding basic cost models (CAPEX/REVEX/P&L) and their impact on design decisions. Experience of working in a regulatory environment. Desirable. Understanding of the UK General Insurance market. Experience of ITIL service management framework. Previous experience in a 3rd line technical support role for relevant infrastructure technologies. Previous project management experience.
