CIPHE

By J&C Team

Founded in 1906, the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) is the professional body for the UK plumbing and heating industry. It is also an educational charity and members are encouraged to keep up-to-date with new technologies and changes of regulations and legislation by undertaking CPD.

The CIPHE participates in the Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Plumber Certificate award scheme. This recognises the achievements of members from trainees through to those who have mastered the craft, science and practice of plumbing.

It has an Education & Training Group, which meets up to four times a year with people working in the field of education, or who are concerned with issues affecting the training of the next generation of plumbers and heating installers.

Membership of the CIPHE is made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds such as consultants, specifiers, designers, public health engineers, lecturers, trainers, trainees and practitioners. At present there are around 10,000 members including approximately 240 manufacturers and distributors, which support its work as Industrial Associates. Whilst the majority of members live in the UK, some 750 are resident in Hong Kong and a further 300 are resident in over 30 other countries.
